Most moving-day problems are decisions that were left too late. Spread them across four weeks and the day itself becomes routine.
Four weeks out
- Book the survey and get a written quote
- Check your new building’s rules on moving hours
- Decide what is not coming with you
Three weeks out
- Sign the bond and fix the delivery window
- Start the society gate pass and no-dues clearance
- Book a service lift slot at both buildings
Two weeks out
- Arrange utility cut-off and connection dates
- Update your address with banks and employers
- Set aside cash, jewellery and documents to carry yourself
The last week
- Confirm the crew arrival time and loading point
- Empty and defrost the fridge a day ahead
- Keep one bag of essentials for the first night
On the day
Walk the inventory sheet with the crew before anything leaves, and walk it again at delivery. That sheet is what any damage or loss claim is checked against.
