A phone quote is built from what you remember owning. On moving day the crew counts what is actually there, and the two rarely match.
Where the difference comes from
People underestimate volume. A loft, a store room or a balcony full of boxes is easy to forget on a call and impossible to miss in person. So is a third-floor flat with no lift, or a lane too narrow for the truck.
- Forgotten rooms and storage spaces
- Stairs and carries nobody mentioned
- Furniture that will not fit through a door whole
- Access that needs a smaller shuttle vehicle
How the charge appears
When the difference shows up on the day, it usually arrives as a revised figure at the truck door, when the goods are half-loaded and there is little room to refuse. That is the moment the phone quote stops meaning anything.
What we do instead
A surveyor sees every room before we quote. The number is written into the bond, and the final invoice is capped at 5% over it. Anything you add after the survey is quoted as a separate line before it is packed, never added on the morning.
